The Growing Gardens Cultiva Youth Project is a youth development program that uses sustainable urban agriculture to teach responsibility, service and leadership to diverse teens. Participants ages 12 to 19 plant, nurture, harvest, and sell shares of homegrown, freshly picked vegetables to Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) members. Each CSA member receives a weekly share of fresh, local, certified organic produce along with a youth-inspired newsletter containing seasonal recipes, video clips of the teens in action and stories from the Cultiva! Farm. Cultiva! provides more than 200 teens the opportunity to develop leadership through organic, urban, agricultural production. Youth invest their time, talents and energy in nurturing their organic garden, giving back to the community and developing leadership and job skills.
